Go Barefoot: reconnect to the ground beneath you

Somewhere along the way, life gets complicated. Schedules fill up. Notifications multiply. Responsibilities stack on top of each other. And before we realize it, we’re moving through our days without ever really feeling grounded in them.

The final Train Bold. Live Wild. principle is Go Barefoot. Not as a rule. Not as a trend. But as a reminder. Sometimes the way back to ourselves is surprisingly simple.

What Go Barefoot Means to Me

To me, Go Barefoot is about returning to what feels real. Stepping outside without rushing. Feeling the ground beneath your feet. Letting your body slow down long enough to notice where you are. When life feels busy or overwhelming, I’ve noticed something interesting. The simplest moments often bring the most clarity. Standing in the yard for a few minutes. Walking through the grass. Letting fresh air hit your face.

These small moments remind me that life doesn’t need to be complicated to feel meaningful.

Go Barefoot in Real Life

Go Barefoot doesn’t have to be complicated.

For me, it often looks like stepping outside into the yard and moving my body right there in the grass.

Sometimes I’ll do an entire workout barefoot outside — feeling the ground under my feet, the sun on my face, the air moving around me. It changes the way movement feels. It slows things down just enough to make you more aware of your body and the moment you’re in.

Other times it’s much simpler. It might look like:

  • stepping outside first thing in the morning

  • standing outside while the kids run around the yard

  • encouraging my family to take their shoes off and feel the ground too

  • walking barefoot in the grass for a few minutes

  • slowing down enough to feel the sun or breeze

  • spending time outside without a goal

Kids naturally understand this. They run barefoot. Climb. Explore. They feel the world around them.

Sometimes Go Barefoot is just remembering how to do that again.

Barefoot Looks Different for Everyone

Barefoot doesn’t have to mean walking through a forest or spending hours outside. Some days it might be a full workout in the grass. Other days it might be standing outside for two minutes while the sun hits your face.

The point isn’t how long you do it. It’s remembering that your body responds to simple connection with the earth more than we often realize.

A Question to Carry This Week

Where in your life could you slow down enough to feel grounded again?

Maybe it’s stepping outside for a few minutes. Maybe it’s taking your shoes off in the yard. Maybe it’s moving your body outside instead of always indoors.

What would it look like to reconnect with the ground beneath you this week?

This Week’s Invitation

Step outside. Take your shoes off if you can. Feel the ground beneath your feet and remember that sometimes the most powerful reset is simply returning to what’s real.

Maybe the wild life we’re searching for isn’t somewhere far away. Maybe it begins right here — standing barefoot on the ground beneath us.
