seek the sun: Let light lead the way back
Lately, I’ve been noticing how much light changes everything. Energy feels different. Mood feels lighter. Even hard days feel a little more manageable. Not because life suddenly becomes easier — but because light shifts how we move through it.
This week’s Train Bold. Live Wild. principle is Seek the Sun. Not as another habit to track. Not as something to optimize. But as a return. A return to warmth. To brightness. To rhythms our bodies naturally understand.
What Seek the Sun Means to Me
For a long time, I underestimated how powerful sunlight really is. I thought of it as a nice extra. Something that made a good day better. Not something my body actually needed.
But the more I pay attention, the more I notice how different I feel when I step outside — even briefly. More awake. More steady. More like myself.
Seeking the sun doesn’t mean chasing perfect weather or building an elaborate morning routine. Most days, it’s simpler than that. It’s stepping outside with my coffee. Letting my eyes adjust to natural light. Taking a short walk when the sun shows up. Pausing for a moment of warmth on my face.
Light has a regulating effect we don’t have to earn. It helps our nervous systems settle. It gently lifts energy. It reminds our bodies that we’re not stuck — we’re living.
That’s what seeking the sun means to me. Letting light support me in small, consistent ways.
Seek the Sun in Real Life
This principle doesn’t require more time. It just asks for a little more awareness.
It might look like:
stepping outside for a few minutes in the morning
taking a short walk during the day instead of staying indoors
standing in the sunlight while your kids play
choosing the longer route if it means fresh air and brightness
letting natural light hit your face before reaching for your phone
pausing when the sun appears instead of rushing past it
Even a few minutes can shift your energy. Even brief exposure can reset your rhythm.
This isn’t about building the perfect routine. It’s about letting light do some of the work.
Light Changes More Than We Think
We often assume we need more motivation. More discipline. More structure. Sometimes, what we really need is more light.
Light supports mood. It supports sleep. It supports energy and focus. It gently reminds your body when to wake, when to move, and when to slow down.
You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel a shift. You might just need to step outside more often. This isn’t about doing more. It’s about receiving what’s already available.
Let light meet you where you are.
A Question to Carry This Week
Where could I let light reach me this week?
Not perfectly. Not consistently. Just more often.
This Week’s Invitation
Step outside each day — even briefly. Morning if you can. Midday if that’s what life allows. Pause when the sun shows up.
Let light warm your face. Let it shift your energy. Let it remind you that forward is still happening. Sometimes the smallest shifts create the biggest changes.
Seek the sun this week. ☀️
