This Summer Feels Different
Maybe it’s just me, but this summer feels different. Not because it’s bigger or more exciting. Because it’s simpler.
For many of us, life moves fast. Calendars fill up. The days blur together. We spend so much time planning the next thing that we forget to enjoy the season we’re actually in.
Lately, I’ve been noticing the simple things more.
Fresh peaches on the counter.
Dinner outside.
An evening walk.
A trip to the pool.
A stop at the market.
Kids playing in the backyard.
Nothing extraordinary. Just everyday moments that remind me that a good life is often built from simple things repeated over time.
The same is true when it comes to our health. We often think we need a new plan, a new program, or a more complicated approach. But most of the time, the basics still work.
In fact, summer may be the best reminder of that.
Build a plate with protein, fuel, and colorful produce.
Move your body.
Get outside.
Spend time with people you love.
Rest when you need it.
Repeat.
One of my favorite reminders of this season has been peaches.
We’ve enjoyed them in all kinds of ways—from breakfast to burgers to homemade pizza.
But what I love most is what they represent.
Eating what’s fresh.
Enjoying what’s in season.
Slowing down enough to appreciate it.
Maybe that’s the invitation this summer. Not to do more. Not to optimize everything. Not to chase perfection. Just to notice what’s already good.
Pick up the peaches.
Take the walk.
Eat outside.
Notice what’s already good.
Enjoy the season you’re in.
Because strength isn’t just built in the gym. It’s built in the rhythms of everyday life.
The meals we share.
The walks we take.
The choices we repeat.
The moments we choose to be present for.
And sometimes, the healthiest thing we can do is stop making it so complicated.
Keep it simple.
